Digital advising tools are a critical part of FRNYC, empowering students to take ownership of their postsecondary planning and exploration. These tools place the student at the center of their planning experience allowing them to document their journey as they build self-knowledge, explore postsecondary options, create plans, and continually reassess as they take in new knowledge, skills, and experiences.

The Office of Student Pathways will subsidize the cost of student licenses, training, and technical supports for FRNYC schools to implement college and career advising tools: Overgrad, and Xello (each school will choose one tool). These tools will enable students to perform key FRNYC tasks while also providing schools visibility into student progress and streamlining data collection for STARS. Schools that are currently using an approved digital tool for advising will not be required to switch platforms at this time.
Summary of Milestones for Digital tools:
- All schools should have selected a tool ahead of the school year. If you need help, please reach out to Rhina Torres at rtorres43@schools.nyc.gov.
- Using the selected tool, schools are expected to prioritize the Career Navigation Roadmap College and Career Aligned Activities outlined in each school’s Implementation Workbook CNR School Action Plan tab shared at Summer Institute.
